The alligators are losing their habitat and are being hunted for their skin and meat. The sea level is also rising because of global warming, the alligator’s homes may be switched from freshwater to fresh/salt water because of the rising. The reason this is a problem is because the temperature at which the eggs are kept decides what sex the baby alligator will be born as.
One solution would be to allow alligators to keep their habitats by staying away from swamps and marshes when building new buildings so we don’t tear them down in the process or scare them off to find a new place to live. Something else we could do is try to create less greenhouse gasses so the sea level doesn’t rise so we don’t have too many of one sex of alligator.
Some of the pros for the first solution are the alligators get to keep their habitats so they don’t get kicked out or moved. As well as their population can grow and they can have a food source. The cons would be that we would have to try to find a way to build around alligator infested swamps so we don’t destroy the habitats. They would also see more of the effects of pollution and littering. There would be more male as we would warm up their environment with pollution and our heating and their sex depends on the temperature of the egg.
