The american alligator lives in the southern parts of Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, all of Louisiana, and all of Florida. The Alligator Mississippiensis or better known as the American Alligator, live in humid, wet, floral areas. Imagine if you will. You, walking through the swamp lands. Seeing these big trees that cover up much of the light, but not all. Putting your foot down and hearing the water squish beneath your feet, like the juice from an orange pours out if you tighten your hand around it. Looking down to see the water rush away from the place your foot is, like ants running away if you stomped on their hill. Feeling the water soak through your shoe a little, feeling the cold water hit your feet. Then lifting your foot up the move forward, watching the water rush back into the spot that is now vacant, like a family running to a long lost son or daughter. Imagine smelling the rotten water, smelling the years of decay. Tasting the bitter stench, like biting into a sandwich that has gone bad from being left out in the sun for a day. Imagine that you look across the land to see nothing but water downed trees, tall grass growing out of the deep water, seeing the heat pulsate off of the hard dirt that dried in the sun. looking out and seeing the animals, both big and small, seeing the tiny daddy long legs, or the large alligators and crocodiles. This is the swamp.
